Gunter to stay at Forest?

On-loan Nottingham Forest defender Chris Gunter has not ruled out a return to the City Ground next season. The 19-year-old Welsh international has played five times since joining from Tottenham as the Reds battle against relegation from the Championship.

Gunter told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's a fantastic club with brilliant people and it couldn't have gone any better.
"I'm contracted to Spurs, but if they tell me to go for a season on loan then it's something to consider."

Gunter joined Spurs from Cardiff for about £3m in January 2008 but has only made three Premier League appearances this season.

Forest loan Chris Gunter from Spurs

Nottingham Forest have signed Tottenham Hotspur's Wales international defender Chris Gunter on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old, who joined Spurs for £3m from Cardiff in January 2008, becomes Billy Davies' third signing since taking charge at the City Ground.

Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I'm delighted to bring in Chris because he can play full back on both sides.

"He is competitive, he's played at this level and is proven at this level."

Gunter is expected to go straight into the Reds team for Saturday's trip to Burnley, with Kelvin Wilson, Ian Breckin, and Joel Lynch all doubtful.

He has made just one substitute appearance in the Premier League since Harry Redknapp took charge at White Hart Lane in October.

On Redknapp, Gunter told BBC Sport in January: "If he thinks it would be best for my development to go on loan and play, then I'll do it."
